5 Actionable Tips for Writing a Compelling Article

If you want to write an article as good as your typical MedTruth article, then you will need both good technique and good content.

The internet is full of articles. Most of them are noise, but some of them are gems that will be read and reread till the end of time. It can be a lot of work to try and compete with the noise.

In fact, because of the way the information age has rapidly progressed, it has become more difficult to come up with a concise definition of what an article is. What isn’t so confusing, however, is the difference between a good article and a not-so-good one.

As it turns out, it isn’t all that hard to create good content. Most people don’t realize the fact that everyone has something interesting to say. Good content is the easy part. The hard part is a good technique. It can feel a little nuanced often, and very abstract sometimes. It is usually what either makes or breaks your article. Here are a few tips you can use to make sure your article falls on the good side.

1. Make It Easy to Read for Most People

A good article is one that draws people in right from the beginning. When you start your article with a large paragraph, then you’re likely to turn away more people than you draw in. What you’re telling your reader is that they have to get through this massive wall of text before they can settle into your article properly. That just won’t work for most people. Instead, you should seek to make your opening short and preferably with a punch line. When you lead in with a sentence or two, you are making it easier for your readers to progress further. Engage them with that first paragraph, and show them that there is value if they read ahead. They’ll be much more willing to put in the effort then.

2. Make Your Text Visually Appealing

No one likes to see dense paragraphs coming in row after row, even if they come deep into the article, and the article has proven that it is worth it. You can lose your readers easily in the middle of your article if you don’t provide them constantly with something attractive enough to hold on.

Balance your words with some empty spaces. Keep the article’s look enticing and just begging to be read. You will be rewarded with a higher engagement rate.

3. Keep Your Article Interesting and Concise

It’s not just about keeping the paragraphs short. It’s also about keeping to the point. Don’t use unnecessary words, also known as fluff. Always use words that contribute meaningfully to helping you make your point.

4. Substance Over Form

News feeds that say nothing are all too common these days. Most people write fluff in 1,000-word bursts, and that’s just about it. Don’t be one of those people. Try to go deeper into the subject and don’t just pump out another shallow piece that only scratches the surface. Your content should be there for the sake of it. Your reader should walk away feeling enlightened.

5. Use Storytelling to Your Advantage

People can’t get enough of stories, and you should use this to your advantage. Bring your article to life by humanizing it, breathing some anecdotes and real-life examples into it. You can open the article with a story to attract interest, and then present your facts with some interesting anecdotes to make them seem closer down to Earth. You will be amazed by the results.
